Josh Vowell & The Rumble is a four-piece progressive blues band that stormed onto the Topeka music scene in November, 2007. The band, comprised of Josh Vowell, who electrifies on lead guitar and vocals, Myrl “Biggs” Brown on bass, Justin “J” Shelton on the harp, and Dave Spritzer keeping the beat on drums, showcases a powerful combination of extensive musical experience and exceptional raw talent. With a string of individual successes with other bands paving their way, the group found their true calling through the sound and soul of the blues, setting out to leave their own mark and legacy on an iconic American artform. The band has enjoyed enormous success over the last two years, playing more than 50 shows in their first year together. In 2008, they were voted local radio station V-100's "Best Band in NW Kansas" by the fans and people, and were invited to open for Wayne Baker Brooks (out of Chicago, IL) at Knuckleheads Saloon in Kansas City. The band made its way to the final round of competition at The Kansas City Blues Challenge at Knuckleheads, and won the 1st Annual "High Octane Band Brawl" hosted by X-92 FM and sponsored by Supersonic music. The momentum continued in 2009. Josh Vowell & The Rumble was invited to their first Blues Festival in Sedalia, Missouri, and most recently won the 2009 Topeka IBC Blues Challenge at Uncle Bo's, which earned them the right to represent The Topeka Blues Society in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN, in 2010. |
